Party Wall Matters

This is a legal procedure as described under The Party Wall etc. 1996

This legislation provides rights to building owners proposing to undertake works and to the adjoining owners, or neighbours facing the prospect of building work that will affect their property.

There are typically three areas where this legislation applies:

  • New walls built up to, or astride a boundary.
  • Works directly to a party wall.
  • Excavations within 3 or 6 metres and to a depth lower than the adjoining owner’s (the neighbour’s) foundations.

We can provide advice and the expertise on what to expect, how the owners’ property can be protected during the works, dealing with all aspects of sending and receiving notices served under the Act and the preparation of party wall awards.
